How We Do Things and Why
    
Grace
The name of our congregation is Grace. The word Grace means unmerited favor. “God’s grace is extended to sinful humanity in
providing salvation and forgiveness through Jesus Christ that is not deserved, and withholding the judgment that is deserved."
(Romans 3:24; Eph 1:7; Titus 2:11) (from the Westminster Dictionary of Theological Terms)
       
 
....................... Holy Communion
* We celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday.
* We welcome all Baptized Christians to the Lord’s Table.
* Most of the children in our church celebrate their first communion when they are in the
.. first grade.
* Because some people are allergic to the wheat gluten in the bread and others have a
.. sensitivity to the alcohol in the wine, we like to remind people that all of the benefits of
.. Holy Communion are given in the bread and wine when taken together or separately.
* In the Lutheran Church we emphasize the mystery that Jesus Christ is really present in
.. the bread and wine of Holy Communion giving to those who receive the elements an
.. assurance of His love and forgiveness.

* We use the New Revised Standard
.. Version translation of the Bible
.. during public worship.
* We believe the Bible is the inspired
.. Word of God and the authoritative
.. source and norm for our lives.
   ........................... Baptism
* When you walk into our church the first thing you see is the
.. flowing Baptismal Font at the entrance to the sanctuary.
* The Font is in this location to remind us that people become
.. members of the church through the gift of God’s promise in
.. baptism.
* The water is constantly flowing to remind us that this is
.. living water in which we are washed and claimed.
* We believe that the main actor in a baptism is God, which is
.. why we baptize both infants and adults.

* We share the faith with our children in a variety
.. of ways
.. including an exciting Wednesday night program (5:30-
.. 6:15), Vacation Bible School every summer, 2
.. confirmation classes (one for 5 & 6th graders and
.. another for 7 & 8th graders).
* Adults in our church participate in a variety of Bible
.. Studies and Small Groups.

* We like having children of all ages present for our worship services.
* We have a children’s sermon every Sunday.
* Because smaller children sometimes need a little break, we offer a staffed nursery every Sunday
.. between the children’s sermon and Holy Communion.
